Aurasma Unleashes 3D Augmented Reality Dinos At CES
January 09, 2012
Yes, yes, the big brands seem to be bailing on CES.
But that doesn't mean it can't be a showcase for up-and-comers.
Just look at Aurasma (actually part of Autonomy, recently acquired by HP).
To those in the know, Aurasma is a kind of QR code-cum-AR marker without the code-kind-of-thing - an app that uses image recognition to activate mobile content that can overlay the physical world in front of. Word's out at CES that Aurasma is going 3D, with a brand new 3D enginge that actually articulates the render from different perspectives - meaning you can move around the 3D object and it retains its integrity (well, as good as these early days will allow).
Small wonder Aurasma is a top 10 finalist in this year's Mobile Apps Showdown at CES. And as CNET points out, as more commercial partners come on board, you can bet Aurasma will become part of a major ad campaign coming near you - in stunning 3D.
