Ad Agency Sends Video to JJ Abrams on 4 Ways to Make 'Star Wars' Great Again (Video)

Apparently the folks at Portland, Ore-based ad agency Sincerely Truman really, really love Star Wars.

And they've created this video letter/warning to JJ Abrams, who is currently attached to direct Star Wars Episode 7 (I'll believe it when I see it...and I'm not even yet sure I want to see it), on '4 Rules to Make Star Wars Great Again."

Hard to argue with anything they say here (though I'm not sure I knew Han Solo always shoots first). And the creativity is outstanding.

But if anyone can make Star Wars great again, it's JJ - with or without a Imperial Star Cruiser's full of advice.

Well, okay, maybe one bit of advice: No lens flares.

GEN WOW Q&A: Jimmy Kimmel's 'Twerking Girl' Daphne Avalon

What hath Miley wrought?

On the heels of Cyrus's vivid gyrations at the MTV VMAs late last month, the 'Worst Twerk Fail Ever' video took the Internets by storm, cementing the term in the American consciousness forever.

BKimmel_tweetut, as Jimmy Kimmel revealed September 10, the video was one of his famous pranks. And its star, one Caitlin Heller, wasn't really a victim at all. In fact, she wasn't Caitlin Heller at all.

Instead, she is Daphne Avalon, a professional stunt woman who - as we'll he hear in our special audio interview - was lucky to have friends who didn't spill the secret. And who, from an early age, demonstrated she had stunt work in her DNA.

Daphne_avalon.v3Note to Warner Bros: If the rumors about 'Man of Steel 2' featuring not just Ben Affleck as Batman but also a yet-to-be-cast Wonder Woman are true - Avalon at least deserves an audition.

As you'll hear, the likeness to the "Amazing Amazon" is something she's heard before.

Amazing Video of 3D Projection-Mapping Coolness (Video)

Longtime readers know I dig 3D projection mapping - and have put it to use for clients.

And I have to say, this demonstration video adds some serious WOW. It's called "Box," and it comes from San Francisco-based design & engineering firm Bot & Dolly. And it's a fantastic demonstration on taking 3D projection mapping to a whole new level by integrating 3D computer graphics, robotics and an actor.

Just think of the application outdoors, in-stores, in-concert or anywhere you want to create a wow moment with consumers.

According to io9, this was all taken in one shot, and captured entirely in-camera (ie, no post-production touch-up).

Read more about the initiative here. And then ask yourself: How might your brand or clients put this kind of tech?

Heineken's 'Departure Roulette' Goes on Road Trip, Taps Twitter Commentators to 'Walk the Talk' (Video)

Be careful what you tweet for. It might literally send you packing.

You have to love this latest installment of W+K's 'Departure Roulette' initiative for Heineken.

If you missed the original, Heineken recently placed a billboard in airports to daring people to press the button to drop everything and go on free trip to whatever random location appears.

As you can imagine, more than a few people took to Twitter to say they'd love to try this, had they seen it in an airport.

Well now, the billboard has come to them, daring them to walk the talk - or the tweet, as the case may be.

As you'll see, most are game - but not all are jazzed about the outcome.

So, the big question: Would you drop everything to do this? And be careful what you say; the good people at Heineken may be watching.

Fans Waiting in Digital Line for Samsung Galaxy S4 Skip Ahead - By Tweeting (Video)

As an Apple devotee, it pains me to say that Samsung's marketing in the mobile wars is increasingly impressive (and scathing) - especially the ads mocking iPhone fans waiting in long lines for the next iPhone.

And now, this new effort from BBDO New Zealand raises the bar. Galaxy fans could skip ahead by tweeting. Brilliant. And you won't believe the results.

Of course, none of it stopped the iPhone 5S from selling out in one day (sorry, had to get that in).

But more importantly: How might your brand use social like this to build this kind of buzz?

Real-Time Billboard Features Children's Drawings for A Real-World Social Experience [Video]

Project Colour from DLKW is designed to help students in school think creatively. And it's just one awesome (and heartwarming) way this real-time technology can be used.

It also happens to be just one example of how social media sometimes doesn't require others to log into a social platform in order to participate.

Bloopers from the Poo Pourri Viral Video [Video]

Hard not to love Bethany Woodruff, aka Princess Poo Pourri.

At nearly 6 million views in barely a week, it's clear a lot of people agree.

George Takei's New YouTube Series Launches with aLook at Google Glass (Video)

I guess it's just a 'Star Trek' kind of week around here.

First, that funny teleportation prank designed to promote the DVD release of 'Star Trek Into Darkness'.

And now, a new YouTube series from Sulu-turned-soc-net-celeb.

I met George Takei at a luau in Kauai last November - super great guy.

And I'm glad to see him continue to conquer the socialsphere, this time through a branded content initiative from AARP. Heck, he even works in a jab at William Shatner.

This new project is meant to expand AARP's reach with both older audiences (who make up the fastest growing segment of social media users) and young.

But what's your take on 'Takei's Take': "Oh My," or "Oh Brother"?

Do you think this works? Do you think it will help with AARP's brand positioning?

How are you & your brand/clients using online video?

Please let us know!

And read more about the series, here.

'Star Trek' Teleportation Prank Puts British Shoppers on Stun (Video)

I was about 1/2 way through before I realized how they were pulling this off. A very nice bit of viral promotion for the DVD release of 'Star Trek: Into Darkness.'

I just wish one of the participants had been beamed back as Leonard Nimoy.

'Poo Pourri' Viral Video Nears 4 Million Views in Just 6 Days (Video)

Poo Pourri's new video is definitely living up to the term "viral" - reaching nearly 4 million views in less than a week.

ADWEEK, AdRants and other industry pubs have taken notice. And Buzzfeed found some especially colorful words for the effort).

To get a full read on the story behind the video, be sure to check out this new piece from a pub called ReelSEO, which provides a great making-of recap on the video production itself
